Theory of Autocracy

Autocracy is the term used to describe an autocratic style of government where unlimited power is held by one person. It is the antithesis of democracy and is typical of the type of government allowed to operate in the Middle East today.

This type of government can often be politically and socially unstable, and certainly does not encourage the development of its populace who often suffer some form of oppression, especially females in some societies.

The theory of autocracy would deny that it represents a totalitarian style of leadership, but the difference is exceedingly fine. In totalitarian states it is a form of government which dictates the actions of the people, whereas in an autocracy it is one person who says what the people will do. But frequently one individual can dominate a government, so the two often amount to being the same thing!

The term autocratic is often correctly associated with dictators, despots, and tyrants some of whom whose mental stability is questionable. This implies cruel and negative attitudes toward the populace even though the majority has the ‘appearance’ of revering their non selected leader.

In any country which allows itself to be ruled in an autocratic manner, then it is goodbye to the chance of any productive life. Autocratic rule stifles any sought of development, growth or creativity unless the wishes of such events coincide with the desires of the all powerful one leader.
