It is not commonly disputed that our individual make up, or the way we exist in terms of our behavior, our likes and dislikes are all controlled by educational, environmental, and social factors.
However, within the theory of biological determinism is the belief that all of the above factors, relevant to any individual, are pre determined and cannot be changed by any outside influence.
The theory of determinism states that all of our attitudes, inclinations, and tendencies are genetically preordained and there is nothing we can do about them, thus any person who carries a gene which has a criminal predisposition will finish up as a criminal.

Autocracy is the term used to describe an autocratic style of government where unlimited power is held by one person. It is the antithesis of democracy and is typical of the type of government allowed to operate in the Middle East today.
This type of government can often be politically and socially unstable, and certainly does not encourage the development of its populace who often suffer some form of oppression, especially females in some societies.
The theory of autocracy would deny that it represents a totalitarian style of leadership, but the difference is exceedingly fine. In totalitarian states it is a form of government which dictates the actions of the people, whereas in an autocracy it is one person who says what the people will do. But frequently one individual can dominate a government, so the two often amount to being the same thing!

In some ways any theory of magic must encompass both science and the supernatural. In this context magic does not include the sleight of hand tricks of a skilled conjuror, or the ‘vanishing lady’ acts of a stage illusionist.
Magic is a supposed supernatural power which makes the seemingly impossible happen or enables a ‘magician’ to control the forces of nature. Magic is often used in certain cultures for healing purposes, warding off evil spirits, and carrying out acts of revenge.
Acts of magic defy any form of explanation by the rational mind. But maybe all the subjects within the theory, are such, that even with the amount of knowledge available to the human mind and the degree of education, we are not yet advanced enough to understand these magical events.

Within any complex business system whereby a clearly defined objective has been set, the achievement of the objective is frequently inhibited by just one aspect of the system. It tends to act like a weak link in a chain.
This weak link acts as a constraint on the system and should be clearly identified, or the whole system managed, with the constraint being recognized and dealt with. The theory of constraints (TOC) is a tool which can be used by management to improve such situations.

Within the theory of universal constant numbers there is a reference to dimensionless constants. A dimensionless constant remains the same no matter what units or dimensions are used to measure it.
For example the Greek letter Pi refers to the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter and will always equal the constant 3,14159… no matter whether it is measured in miles inches, meters or whatever.
The physicist Martin Rees has suggested 6 numbers which are held to be fundamental constants throughout the universe, and that each of these numbers is precisely tuned in such a way that if they differed slightly the universe would be completely different, and possibly hostile to life.

Flight is not unnatural; there are many creatures which have had the ability to fly for thousands or even millions of years. Birds can fly, bats fly, and there are many other species who can either fly or glide over considerable distances.
The theory of flight tells us that flight is made possible by obeying specific laws of physical science, and it is by following these same laws that flight, enjoyed by humans has become possible.
Hot air balloons achieve flight by working on the buoyancy principle. They are lighter than air, and float on the air like a piece of wood will float on water; since it has a lower density than water. The density of hot air within the balloon is less dense than the surrounding cooler air so the balloon floats or rises.

A theory can be said to be a speculation or an abstract thought. It is necessary to have a theory of a theory before becoming involved in the many connotations a theory can have. Everyone is familiar with the terms scientific theory or philosophical theory, so we will talk briefly about scientific theory.
Scientific theories explain the world, and attempts to explain what we are. The theory develops our understanding of things, and the more clear the understanding becomes, so we have the ability to discard one theory in favor of another.

Cramp is a sudden involuntary contraction of a muscle, commonly occurring in the lower regions of the body, or the arms, hand, and wrist.
Despite all of the advances made in medical diagnosis, and knowing the causes of most diseases and illnesses, any theory of muscle cramp and the exact reason for the onset of sudden muscle contraction is still not fully understood.
In the 1930’s it was commonly thought that muscle cramp was associated with a lack of body electrolytes, and possible dehydration. But recently it has been conjectured that the onset of muscle cramp can be due to –
- The onset of old age.
- Having a high body mass index.

There is absolutely no scientific evidence for the presence of a human soul. It certainly is a non physical entity which shows itself as expressing our consciousness, our thoughts, feelings, and will.
The theory of the human soul subscribes to the view that the soul being non physical cannot be subject to body decay and therefore must be eternal. The natural follow on to this line of thought is, that if the soul is eternal it will exist both before the beginning of human life, and will continue to exist after physical death.

Learning is essentially the gaining of knowledge or a skill; primarily gained from formal education and life experience. Each individual learns in a different way. and there are many theories of learning.
Learning can be thought of as a process which changes the behavior, thinking, and attitudes to life of a person, though sometimes these changes do not become evident until some time after the actual education has taken place.
What follows are a few of the theories of learning which have been put forward in recent years. –
